Attendance
Attendance is a high priority at Rodney House School.
School starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.00pm.
Medical Appointments: On occasions where pupils have medical appointments in the afternoon, some parents are keeping the children off school in the morning and vice versa. It is the parent's responsibility to collect their child from school within a reasonable time to attend any appointments. Any absence from school does impact on the children's education and are recorded as 'unauthorised' in the register. Please be aware the local authority monitors unauthorised absences and where appropriate will issue penalty notices or consider prosecution in the magistrates court.
If your child has an appointment during the school day, please bring the appointment letter or card into school prior to the appointment. If you do not have a letter/card, please ask the doctor to stamp the Medical Slip to file at school. Click on 'Medical Slip' below and print off the form to take to your appointment and then bring to school when stamped.
Family Holidays: The Head Teacher can not approve requests to take children out of school for holidays during school time. All family holidays must be taken in the school holidays. It is widely recognised that the educational outcomes of children can be significantly impacted by periods of absence. However, we appreciate that there may be exceptional circumstances where you need to take your child out of school in term time. In this instance you must make the request and receive approval from the Head Teacher before making plans to remove your child from school. Please click on the link below, print off the form and send the completed form to school before you make further plans.
